Terms of use

The agreement between you and us when you use HelpingHand Meal Planner, in plain words. Please read it: by using the planner you agree to it.

HelpingHand Meal Planner (mealplanner.nz) is run by Prosper Technologies Limited, a New Zealand company. Questions go to support@helpinghand.nz. Last updated 24 October 2026.

About these terms

"We", "us" and "our" mean Prosper Technologies Limited. "You" means the person the account belongs to.
By creating an account or using the planner, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Our privacy policy and data protection policy say what we keep about you and how we look after it. They are part of these terms.
We may change these terms. If a change matters, we email you at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the planner after that, the new terms apply; if you do not want them, you can cancel.

Your account

You need to be 16 or over to have an account.
An account is for one household. Please do not share your login with anyone outside it.
Please use your real name and an email address you check, and keep them up to date.
Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account, so tell us straight away at support@helpinghand.nz if you think someone else has got in.
If you sign in with Google or Facebook, keeping that account safe keeps your planner safe too.

Free and Premium

The Free plan costs nothing. It includes what our home page says it does, and we may change what it includes.
Premium can start with a free trial, and you do not need a card for it. If you have not added a card when the trial ends, you move to Free and nothing is charged.
With a card added, Premium is charged monthly or yearly in advance, in New Zealand dollars, including GST. We email you a receipt each time.
Premium renews by itself at the end of each month or year until you cancel it.
If we change the price, we email you at least 30 days before you are first charged the new price.
If a payment does not go through, we try again over the next week and keep Premium on meanwhile. If it still fails, you move to Free.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel Premium at any time from Subscription in your account.
When you cancel, you keep Premium until the end of the month or year you have paid for, and we do not charge you again.
We do not refund part of a month or year, except where the law says we must. If something has gone wrong, email us and we will look at it fairly.
Switching between monthly and yearly takes effect from your next renewal.
Moving to Free never deletes anything. Your plans, recipes and pantry stay in your account.

If your employer pays

A company can pay for Premium for its people by buying seats. The company that sets this up is our customer for those seats and pays for them.
Seats are charged monthly or yearly in advance, plus GST, for the number of seats the company chooses, whether or not they are all taken.
Whoever sets up the company manages it. They see who has joined (name, email address, how and when they joined), can replace the join link and can take a seat back. They never see anyone's plans, pantry, recipes or lists.
Keep your join link to your own people: anyone with it can take a seat while there are seats free.
If you join through work, your account is still yours, and these terms apply to you just as they do to anyone else, apart from paying.
If you leave the company, or it takes your seat back or stops paying, you move to Free and keep everything you made. You can start Premium yourself at any time.

AI in the planner

The planner works with AI: HelpingHand AI, our own, which runs on Claude from Anthropic, or an AI assistant of your own that you connect, such as Claude or ChatGPT.
AI can get things wrong. Check what it suggests before you rely on it, especially quantities, cooking times and anything to do with allergies.
HelpingHand AI is paid for with prepaid AI credits, and the planner shows what each answer cost. Credits do not expire. They are not refundable or transferable, except where the law says they must be.
An assistant you connect acts in your planner on what you ask it. Its own terms and privacy policy apply to it, and anything it costs is between you and that company. You can disconnect it at any time.
You are responsible for what you ask an AI to do in your planner, such as changing a plan or clearing a list.

Food, allergies and safety

Meal plans, recipes and shopping lists are suggestions to help you. They are not dietary, nutritional or medical advice.
If anyone in your household has an allergy or intolerance, always check the ingredients and the labels on what you buy. Recipes and products change, and we can make mistakes.
Follow safe food handling: cook food through, keep cold food cold and take care with leftovers. You are responsible for how the food you use is bought, stored, prepared, cooked and served. As far as the law allows, neither Prosper Technologies Limited nor any of its directors, officers, employees or contractors is liable to you or anyone in your household, in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, for any illness, injury, allergic reaction, loss or damage arising from food you buy, store, prepare, cook or eat, or from relying on any recipe, meal plan, shopping list, product match or AI suggestion in the planner. This clause is for the benefit of each of those people, and each of them may enforce it under subpart 1 of Part 2 of the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017. Nothing in it limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
Prices, portions, cooking times and what a shop will cost are estimates. Supermarket prices and stock change all the time.
When you buy from a supermarket, you buy from it, not from us. Its own terms apply, and we are not responsible for its prices, stock, substitutions or delivery.

Your recipes and ours

Recipes, photos and notes you add stay yours.
You let us store them, copy them as needed to run the planner and show them to you and anyone you choose to share them with. We do not publish them or give them to anyone else.
Only add photos and recipes you are allowed to use. A recipe you bring in from a website is for your own household.
The planner, its design and the recipes we provide belong to us or to the people who let us use them. Use them for your own household, but please do not copy or sell them.

Using the planner fairly

The planner is for planning your own household's meals.
Do not use it to break the law or harm anyone, or try to get into other people's accounts or parts of the planner you are not meant to reach.
Do not copy our recipes or data in bulk, overload our servers or get round the limits we set. Connecting an AI assistant the way our connect page explains is fine.
Do not sell, rent out or share access to your account.

Keeping the planner running

We work hard to keep the planner running and your information safe, but we cannot promise it will never be down or have a fault.
We keep improving the planner, so features may change, move between Free and Premium, or stop. If we take away something you are paying for, we tell you first and you can cancel.
If we ever close the planner, we give you at least 30 days' notice. If you pay yearly, we refund the part of your year you have paid for and will not get; a monthly payment runs out within the notice period, so there is nothing to refund. We also send you a copy of your recipes and plans if you ask.

Closing your account

You can close your account at any time. Email support@helpinghand.nz and we delete it, as our privacy policy explains.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. We tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first, unless the breach is serious or the law makes us act straight away.
If we close your account and you have done nothing wrong, we refund any Premium you have paid for and not had.

Your rights under New Zealand law

If you use the planner as a consumer, you have rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986. Nothing in these terms takes those rights away.
If a company buys seats, or you use the planner for a business, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply, as far as the law allows.
Apart from those rights, and as far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the problem.
We are not liable for loss we could not reasonably have foreseen, or for loss caused by things outside our control, such as a supermarket, payment provider or AI provider being down.

The law, and getting in touch

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and New Zealand courts can decide any dispute about them.
